My third solo cabaret show was studded with my mother's favorite songs. She had taken me to every top-name musical we could afford when I was a kid, and we always sat front-row, center. On the occasion of her 85th birthday, I performed Barry Manilow's "Copa Cabana," complete with Las Vegas headdress. The show also included "I'm Still Here," from Stephen Sondheim's show, "Follies", a tribute to the troupers of my mother's generation. The audience was full of my mother's friends, who delighted at Lilly's and my duet rendition of Kander and Ebb's "Cabaret." We were standouts in our red dresses!
