Bat Mitzvah (Liturgical) Music

Most people might not consider a religious ceremony to be a performance. For me, Jewish liturgical music was a very meaningful and important part of the year of study that led up to my becoming a Bat Mitzvah in midlife. It was also a performance. After helping each of my three daughters through this rite of passage at the age of thirteen, I enjoyed having my own turn at the bimah (podium). I found Torah trope (musical notation and melody) a fascinating challenge and a delight to master.
